Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Pandyra

Principal investigator

Aleksandra is a trained immunologist and tumor biologist appointed as W2 tenure track professor in translational immunology at the Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Bonn.

Dr. Wei Liu

Postdoctoral researcher

Wei earned her PhD from the University of Düsseldorf, where she specialized in drug repurposing strategies for cancer therapy and conducted extensive research in tumor immunity. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at UKB, where her work focuses on the mechanisms of trained immunity, contributing to advancements in cancer and immunology research. 

Ann-Sophie Mai

PhD candidate

Ann-Sophie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Life Sciences from the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern and a Master’s degree in Molecular Biomedicine from the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf. Since 2024, she has been working as a PhD student in the research group, where her research focus is on trained immunity.

Yixuan Zeng

PhD candidate

Yixuan earned her MD in general medicine from Semmelweis University in Budapest. Alongside her clinical interests, she has a strong passion for basic research. She explored cardiovascular metabolism with an emphasis on genetics and immunology. She is currently pursuing a PhD at UKB, where her research focuses on innate trained immunity within the contexts of oncology and infection.

Dr. Eleni Vasileiou

PhD candidate

Eleni completed her medical training in pediatrics and also received her MSc degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnologies from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She enjoys exploring new topics with an interdisciplinary approach. Eleni joined AG Pandyra in 2021 and studies the role of the immune system in the pathogenesis of the ETV6::RUNX1 preleukemia.

Hazel Şahin

PhD candidate

Hazel earned her Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics, followed by a Master’s in Medical Immunosciences and Infection from the University of Bonn. After completing her master’s thesis in the Pandyra Lab, she began her PhD studies at UKB, where she investigates cytokine interception in childhood leukemia and explores drug repurposing strategies for cancer and viral infections.
